I demonstrated this page a couple of weekends ago at a workshop. I wanted to experiment with one of my SES photos which always incorporates the colour orange, so I chose Sweet Always Designer Series Paper! I used Pretty in Pink as the base colour for the page, and stamped the background in VersaMark using a stamp from the Always stamp set. I mounted the DSP and photo onto Pumpkin Pie, added some Chocolate Chip Double-Stitched Grosgrain ribbon, and a flower I made using the scallop circle punch. For the journalling tag, I punched an extended tag using the small tag punch. Here’s how it’s done….

Measure across the width of the tag. It’s easier if you measure across a punch out of the tag, rather than the punch itself. It should be about 3cm for the small tag punch. Cut a strip of cardstock to the same width of 3cm. Insert one end into the shaped end of the punch, as shown. Punch the end of the tag. Trim the extended tag to the desired length.

It’s made using Good Morning Sunshine DSP, and I’ve stamped over the DSP with a couple of stamps from Enjoy Every Moment stamp set in Kiwi Kiss, Rose Red and Pumpkin Pie inks. I’ve then stamped over with a bold flower from Petal Pizzazz in Versa Mark, then embossed with clear embossing powder. Finally, I’ve brayered over with Chocolate Chip, and wiped off excess ink with a tissue. The clear embossing reveals the pattern of the DSP and stamping. I’ve used Kiwi Kiss to mount the patterned DSP, with a belly band in So Saffron, and Rose Red for the base card which I’ve stamped with a stamp from Good Friend in Rose Red ink. The ribbon is Stampin’ Up!s yummy Kiwi Kiss/Vanilla satin ribbon.

For the Christmas card below, I used the All About Christmas wheel. I inked the jumbo cartridge using the metallic Encore re-inkers. The ink flows from the re-inkers easier if they are warmed against your body first – try putting them in a shirt pocket for a while before using.

To achieve the wavy effect, I “skewed” the wheel as I rolled it, then I trimmed, leaving a margin, and followed along the edge of the wave, and backed it with Metallic Gold cardstock. The star was made from On Board Trimmings and covered in Holiday Harmony DSP. I punched the silver star from Metallic Silver cardstock, using the Large Star Punch, and I inserted a round red rhinestone brad in the centre. I also daubed the edges using Old Olive ink, and tied a piece of wide Old Olive ribbon around the image before mounting it. The background was stamped using the same wheel with Versamark ink.

Regional Seminar in Perth, and I demonstrated how to ink up an uninked jumbo Stampin’ Around cartridge using 2 colours! The card I demonstrated was using the Something Fishy jumbo wheel, and stamps from Life’s a Breeze and Whale Wishes.

When you open an uninked jumbo cartridge, you’ll notice the foam roller is made up of 2 cells. Perfect! Carefully ink one side with one colour ink refill of your choice, turning the wheel with the tip of the reinker as you go, careful not to overload the cartridge otherwise the ink will pool in the housing. Carefully ink the other side with a different co-ordinating colour of your choice. Place the cartridge into the handle, then click in the wheel, and roll out onto scrap paper first. Don’t forget to write the colours onto the cartridge label, and store the cartridge in a sealed container for future use.

For my Something Fishy card, I used Taken with Teal and Night of Navy in the ink cartridge, and stamped it onto Confetti White cardstock. I cut along the wave tops and layered it onto Taken with Teal cardstock for the base card. I tore a strip of So Saffron cardstock, on which I spritzed “sand” using the Spritzer Tool and So Saffron marker. I think I also sponge daubed along the torn edge. For the whale, I inked him up in Taken with Teal then rockin’ rolled the edges in Night of Navy, and carefully cut around the outline leaving a 2mm margin. The sun was done in the same way, but using So Saffron and Rose Red.

My apologies for the poor picture – in my hast of making my cards up for the demonstration I forgot to scan them into my computer, so the pictures are the photos I took of my work once they were placed up on the display board after the demonstrations! I’ll post the others soon.
