I’ve been hoping to get back into doing scrapbooking classes for a while now, and finally decided to set aside one night per month (the second Friday night of every month) for anyone who would like to come along and get back into scrapbooking! The pages will be set designs, and at the moment they are two 6×6 pages for $10, with the option of upgrading to 12 x 12. If you feel inspired and would like to come along, the next get-together is on Friday 12th August at 7pm. Also, keep an eye on my Classes and Events page, as I’m planning some weekday afternoon classes!
This page is one of two we made this month, and is inspired by a 12×12 page shown in our monthly Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator newsletter (and yes, the chubby one in the photo is me at almost 2 years of age!) One of the best things about being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator is the endless source of inspiration, whether it be from our SU! newsletters, demonstrations and samples at SU! events, our SU! website and Stampin’ Connection, or swaps from other demonstrators. If you have been thinking about joining the Stampin’ Up! family, if you join now there’s no minimum sales required until the end of December! Join my team, and come with us next month for a weekend away in Denmark WA on our first ever Gr8 Southern INKers Demo Retreat! A weekend jam packed full of stamping, scrapping and papercraft! Interested? Contact me today if you would like more information on the benefits of joining Stampin’ Up!

Aren’t they sweet? They are CASEd from the very talented and inspirational Bronwyn Eastley, and you can view a tutorial on how to make the butterflies here on Bronywn’s blog. We made these last week with my Stamp Club ladies, using Pink Pirouette & Very Vanilla cardstock and the Strength & Hope stamp set. This stamp set can be found in the Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue, and $2 from the purchase of each set is being donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. If you haven’t already purchased this gorgeous stamp set, you only have until the 31st of July!

I love this technique – it’s called Faux Silk and it’s so simple yet very effective! Basically, an outline image is stamped with Stazon Black ink onto white tissue paper, then coloured in using Stampin’ Write Markers. The tissue is then crumpled into a ball, and opened out. I have used the fabulous new Sizzix Adhesive Sheets to adhere the image to pre cut- to- size cardstock. It’s important to pat the tissue onto the adhesive – don’t smooth it over as it’s important to keep the textured finish. The template is one I came across somewhere on the internet. We made this card for my June stamp clubs. 10 points if you can spot the “whoopsie”!

Get a FREE exclusive bundle of ribbon and buttons when you spend $100 on your choice of Stampin’ Up! products. That’s a $31.95 value!
Bundle includes:

•48 flower buttons. Sixteen each in 3 colours (Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo and Pacific Point). Approximately 1/2″ (1.27 cm).

My butterfly is cased from one shown at Convention. The background is double embossesd. To do this I embossd a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Pink Pirouette cardstock first with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, then the Framed Tulips embossing folder. This size card sits exactly inside the tulip frame. It’s then adhered to a piece of 22cm x 14.5cm of Elegant Eggplant card – slightly larger than the usual A5 piece to accomodate the emboosed frame.
The butterflies are made by adhering some pretty floral cotton fabric onto Very Vanilla cardstock using a piece of Sizzix Adhesive Sheet (love that stuff!) Then it’s cut using the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz die, and run through the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder. Voila! Embossed fabric embellishments! A couple of Vintage brads, some Victoria lace, Stampin’ Dimensionals, and “ta da”!! The label is from the Notably Ornate stamp set. Pretty, huh?

I recently designed this little album in a box as a project for my Stamp Club ladies. It is based on similar boxes shown on page 115 of the 2010-1011 Idea Book & Catalogue.

I love the combination Baja Breeze, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla, and somehow a Vintage theme fell into place as I designed the cover…

…I was able to use a number of different stamp sets to make up the pages….

And one thought led to another….

…one the fourth page I placed two stamped and embossed hearts, and some tiny “letters” tied together with hemp twine (I replicated this page as a card front for some of my Convention swaps!)

This is the last page made using the Notably Ornate stamp set. The frame is lightly watercoloured and stained.
On pages two and four I also added some photos of my grandparents taken during the Great War. I printed the photos in black and white in passport size, and used the Distressing Essentials kit to sepia colour and distress the photos. My grandfather served in France in WWII which was fitting to use on the page with the Artistic Etchings stamp of the Eiffel Tower.

…the open album. The project was very well received by my Stamp Club ladies, and it was completed over two club nights. I had a most enjoyable time making it, and like I said one idea flowed on to another!
Okay, so I know it’s been a few weeks now since Convention, but it’s taken me this long to get back on track – and thanks to this long weekend I’ve had a bit of time to upload and resize some photos! So, here are a few of my Convention Swaps….

This one’s using the new French Foliage stamp set, and is stamped with Stazon Black onto Metallic Gold, Copper, Cajun Craze and Always Artichoke squares of card. The background is stamped with Sanded stamp set in Versa Mark ink. The greeting stamp I realised after I made this sample card is retired, so on my swap cards I used the “wishes” stamp from Heard from the Heart stamp set!

This is my Vintage Collage card, using several different vintage style stamp sets and sponging. The cardstock and inks used are Very Vanilla, Always Artichoke and Bravo Burgundy, and I used Soft Suede ink for the En Francais background (stamped off a few times before stamping onto the card for a subtle background) and sponging the edges of the Very Vanilla card. The other stamp sets used are Noteably Ornate (for the bird), Artistic Etchings and Friends 24/7. The flower is subtly watercoloured using an Aqua Painter and inks.

I also made up about 15 pairs of earrings, some embossed and some using Play Date rub-ons. I forgot to take decent photos until breakfast time on the first moring of Convention, so this is my 3D swap done up in cellaphane all ready to go!
…and here are the many beautiful swaps I received in return…… so many different ideas and inspiration – gotta love Convention time!
