Scrapbooking on Canvas!
by cathy on January 16, 2009

Well, this is scrapbooking with a difference! I’m not much of a scrapbooker really, but thought I’d try something different!
I purchased a 12×12 artists canvas and gave it a rough coat of acrylic paint (stored in the cupboard from my folk art days!) in Off White. I sponged the edges with Creamy Caramel ink, and stamped swirls in Close to Cocoa ink using stamps from Finest Flourishes.
I added Always Artichoke ribbon from the Theatre ribbon pack, and stamped and cut out 2 flowers from Brocade Basics. The flower is from the Pretties Kit and is coloured using More Mustard ink and a sponge dauber. Rhinestone brads were paced through the centre of the flowers through to the back of the canvas, and the same with the brads on the antique brass label and tag.
I brought in the More Mustard again on the friendship
tag and photo corner to balance the picture, and added a hat pin and beads from the Pretties Kit.
I have used double sided adhesive tape and Stampin’ Dimensionals for attaching the photos and embellishments.
We did a scrapbook canvas each at my Altered Canvas Scrapbook Picture class this week. It’s really no different to scrapbooking on cardstock! Oh, and the photograph is a copy of an original taken about 1917 of my maternal grandmother.
I’m working on another canvas scrapbook picture with a beach theme. I’ll post it on here when it’s finished!
